Treatment protocol Fruits were harvested in green and red stages.
Growth protocol Strawberry plants (F. x ananassa) were grown in plant chamber at 25 ºC, 10.000 lux and 80% humidity and afterwards maintained in a greenhouse.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Total RNA was isolated from independent strawberry fruits as stated by Asif et al. (2000). The total RNA obtained was treated with DNase I (RNase free) (Invitrogen), in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, to remove genomic DNA contamination, after which it was purified by using the RNeasy Mini kit (Qiagen).
Label Cy3
Label protocol 200 ng of total RNA of each sample was labelled using the Low Input Quick Amp Labeling Kit (Agilent Technologies) according to the manufacturer's protocol.
 
Hybridization protocol 600 ng of Cy3-labeled aRNA was hybridized on an 8x60K Sure Print G3 custom microarray (Agilent Technologies). After hybridization, arrays were washed according to the manufacturer's protocol.
Scan protocol Arrays were scanned with an Agilent Microarray Scanner. Images and intensity data were obtained using Agilent Feature Extraction v.10.7 software.
Data processing The microarray datas were analyzed with the software for gene expression analysis ArrayStar 5 (DNASTAR).
