Extraction protocol |
RNA was isolated from the gastrocnemius skeletal muscle of control mice and plaster cast mice. RNA was purified using the RNeasy Mini kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany).

Cy3-labeled cRNA (1.65 μg) was mixed and fragmented according to the Agilent Technologies protocol.

Hybridization protocol |
cRNA was prepared according to the standard Agilent protocol. Agilent platform Agilent-026655 Whole Mouse Genome Microarray 4x44K v2 (Feature Number version) was used.

Scan protocol |
Arrays were scanned on an Agilent Microarray Scanner to detect Cy3 fluorescence.

Data processing |
The scanned images were analyzed using Feature Extraction Software 9.5 (Agilent) with default parameters (protocol: GE1-v5_95_Feb07 and Grid: 026655_D_F_20100123 to obtain background-subtracted and spatially detrended Processed Signal intensities. Features flagged in Feature Extraction Software as Non-uniform outliers were excluded.
