Pinch biopsies were obtained at colonoscopy using sterile cold biopsy forceps and snap-frozen for RNA extraction in Trizol reagent (Invitrogen). RNA was isolated using chloroform purification and isopropanol extraction and purified using QIAgen Rneasy Mini Kit.
