Cells were dissociated with accutased and attached as a monolayer. Growth factors EGF and FGF2 were removed and replaced with CNTF.

Maintained as a cell culture at 37C in 5% CO2 in neural media (DMEM/F12+glutamine, NEAA, N2, Heparin.

Trizol extraction of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions followed by Rneasy and on-column DNAse digestion (Qiagen).
