Total RNA was purified with an RNeasy Mini Kit (QIAGEN), in which an on-column DNase treatment was included. 500 ng of purified RNA was then subjected to mRNA isolation and library preparation using a NEBNext Ultra RNA Directional Library Prep Kit for Illumina with the Poly (A) mRNA Magnetic Isolation Module (NEB) following manufacturer’s instructions.
