Title |
Moringa oleifera concentrate as a complementary treatment in triple negative breast cancer |
Organisms |
Homo sapiens; Mus musculus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
Using a rodent xenograft model of triple negative breast cancer (MDA-MB-231 cells), diet induced obesity, and insulin resistance, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of moringa (MC) on improving insulin sensitivity and inhibiting angiogenesis as a dual mechanism by which the efficacy of antineoplastic treatment by standard of care chemotherapy is augmented in vivo.

Overall design |
B6/Rag1KO were fed a HFD to induce obesity. There was no-treatment lean control group. MDAMB231 cells were injected at 14 weeks of age and 10 weeks on diet. Cells were allowed engraft and tumors grow. After tumors were >200 mm3 on average, tumor bearing mice on the HFD were randomized to one of 4 groups: 1) High Fat Vehicle, 2), High Fat Chemotherapy, 3) High Fat Moringa Concentrate, 4) High Fat Moringa Concentrate Chemotherapy. The lean tumor bearing mice received no intervention.
