Title |
Regulation of translation under mitoprotein-induced stress in Saccharomyces cerevisiae |
Organism |

Summary |
Proteotoxic stress triggers adaptive cellular responses, including changes in gene expression on the levels of transcription and translation. In this study, we analyzed the translational response of yeast cells to impaired protein import into mitochondria, a condition under which mitochondrial precursor proteins accumulate in the cytosol and impose proteotoxic stress. We analyzed changes in translational efficiency as well as more subtle changes in the distribution of ribosomes along transcripts, with a special focus on translation initiation sites.

Overall design |
Ribosome footprints from clogger-expressing and control cells after 4.5 h of clogger induction were isolated and sequenced in 3 biological replicates. Cells in replicate 1 were treated with cycloheximide before cell lysis to enrich translation initiation sites. Replicates 2 and 3 were not in contact with cycloheximide before cell lysis.
