Insufficient VIP levels in the microenvironment speeds IL-10 mRNA decay to cause regulatory B cell dysfunction. Administration of VIP can inhibit experimental colitis, suggesting the translational potential of VIP in the treatment of IgE(+) ulcerative colitis.

Vasoactive intestinal peptide stabilizes intestinal immune homeostasis through maintaining interleukin-10 expression in regulatory B cells.

The present data show that low VIP levels result in IL-10 mRNA spontaneously decays in food allergy regulatory B (Br) cells to induce Br cell dysfunction. Administration of VIP restores the immune regulatory function in Br cells, which shows the translational potential for the treatment of food allergy or other allergic diseases.

Vasoactive intestinal peptide alleviates food allergy via restoring regulatory B cell functions.

The results suggest that VIP assists the progress of extravillous trophoblast invasion and vessel remodelling in first-trimester placental bed in an immunologically "silent" milieu. The effects of VIP in the present ex vivo human placental model endorse its potential as a therapeutic candidate for deep placentation disorders.

Vasoactive intestinal peptide shapes first-trimester placenta trophoblast, vascular, and immune cell cooperation.
