Our findings show that a KLF4 genomic variant (rs2236599) is associated with hydroxyurea treatment efficacy in sickle cell disease/beta-thalassemia compound heterozygous patients and two KLF10 genomic variants (rs980112, rs3191333) are associated with persistent HbF levels in nontransfusion dependent beta-thalassemia (NTDT) patients

Zinc is capable of ameliorating the allogeneic immune reaction by enhancement of antigen-specific iTreg cells due to modulation of essential molecular targets by upregulation of Foxp3 and KLF-10 and downregulation of IRF-1.

Zinc supplementation induces CD4(+)CD25(+)Foxp3(+) antigen-specific regulatory T cells and suppresses IFN-γ production by upregulation of Foxp3 and KLF-10 and downregulation of IRF-1.

In clinical specimens of lung adenocarcinoma, low KLF10 expression associated with decreased patient survival, consistent with a pivotal role for KLF10 in distinguishing the antiproliferative versus prometastatic functions of TGFbeta. Our results establish that KLF10 functions to suppress TGFb-induced EMT, establishing a molecular basis for the dichotomy of TGFb function during tumor progression.
