    Studied the physiology of advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs) in beta-cell destruction and dysfunction. Found exposure of cells to AOPPs induced an increase in Bax expression, caspase-3 activity, and apoptosis as well as a decrease in Bcl-2 expression.
