Iron promoted proinflammatory cytokine expression in T cells via regulating the stability of an RNA-binding protein PCBP1. Intracellular iron protects PCBP1 protein from caspase-mediated proteolysis, and PCBP1 promoted messenger RNA stability of Csf2 and Il2 by recognizing UC-rich elements in the 3' untranslated region.

Iron Drives T Helper Cell Pathogenicity by Promoting RNA-Binding Protein PCBP1-Mediated Proinflammatory Cytokine Production.

Study report a novel interaction between mutant HSPB1-P182L and the RNA binding protein PCBP1, leading to a reduction in its translational repression activity. Identifying PCBP1 mRNA targets revealed a marked prevalence for an RNA recognition motif, preferably seen in their 5' and 3'UTRs. Findings further support a role for mutant HSPB1 in neurodegenerative diseases.

Mutant HSPB1 causes loss of translational repression by binding to PCBP1, an RNA binding protein with a possible role in neurodegenerative disease.

TGF-beta modulates the expression of Dab2 and ILEI mRNA required for epithelial-mesenchymal transdifferentiation by inducing phosphorylation of hnRNP E1, resulting in its release from a structural, 33-nucleotide BAT element in the 3'UTR of Dab2 and ILEI.

TGF-beta-mediated phosphorylation of hnRNP E1 induces EMT via transcript-selective translational induction of Dab2 and ILEI.

To define the mechanism of STAT3C suppression of transcript. and/or translational activity of NF-kappaB we found that a alphaCP-1 interacted with STAT3C. alphaCP-1 is a K-homol. domain-containing RNA-binding prot with specific for C-rich pyrimidine tracts

An RNA-binding protein alphaCP-1 is involved in the STAT3-mediated suppression of NF-kappaB transcriptional activity.
