    Wnt4 induces osteogenesis through both beta-catenin- and noncanonical p38-JNK pathways through distinct receptor complexes. Melatonin promotes bone formation through Wnt4-Fzd1/6-LRP5/6-beta-catenin and Wnt4-Fzd2-JNK-p38 pathways. Melatonin induces Wnt4 expression through the ERK1/2-Pax2-Egr1 pathway. Melatonin suppresses the inhibitory effect of TNF-alpha and NF-kappaB on osteogenesis in a Wnt4-dependent manner.
