    Summary
Enables DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and core promoter sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II and regulation of cardiac muscle tissue development. Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration. Located in several cellular components, including Z disc; nucleus; and sarcoplasmic reticulum. Part of junctional membrane complex. Is expressed in several structures, including genitourinary system; heart; liver; skeletal muscle; and spleen. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in dilated cardiomyopathy 2E and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy 17. Orthologous to human JPH2 (junctophilin 2). RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
