    Summary
Enables G protein-coupled acetylcholine receptor activity. Involved in G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway; ligand-gated ion channel signaling pathway; and positive regulation of insulin secretion. Acts upstream of or within cholinergic synaptic transmission; positive regulation of smooth muscle contraction; and saliva secretion. Is active in plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; genitourinary system; nervous system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Used to study megacystis-microcolon-intestinal hypoperistalsis syndrome. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in bladder disease; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; prune belly syndrome; and pulmonary fibrosis. Orthologous to human CHRM3 (cholinergic receptor muscarinic 3). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Oct 2024]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
