Su(var)2-10 - Suppressor of variegation 2-10
Enables STAT family protein binding activity and SUMO ligase activity. Involved in several processes, including piRNA-mediated retrotransposon silencing by heterochromatin formation; positive regulation of somatic stem cell division; and regulation of signal transduction. Located in chromosome, telomeric region; cytoplasm; and nuclear lumen. Is expressed in egg chamber; embryonic brain; larval ventral nerve cord; organism; and ventral nerve cord. Used to study hematologic cancer. Orthologous to several human genes including PIAS2 (protein inhibitor of activated STAT 2) and PIAS3 (protein inhibitor of activated STAT 3).
