Summary
This region is found centromere-distal to the euchromatic histone lysine methyltransferase 1 (EHMT1) gene, and is known to undergo recombination, forming interstitial deletion on chromosome 9. Secondary structure prediction analysis indicates the possibility that this region could form a loop structure. Clinical variability can be observed in individuals with 9q34.3 deletions, but there is a characteristic phenotype for 9q34.3 microdeletions, including distinctive craniofacial features, hypotonia, obesity, microcephaly and speech delay (CHOMS). This region contains a meiotic recombination hotspot. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
