Root and shoot performance of Arabidopsis thaliana exposed to elevated CO2: a physiologic, metabolic and transcriptomic response.

(Submitter supplied) In this study we explain the physiological, biochemical and gene expression mechanisms adopted by ammonium nitrate-fed Arabidopsis thaliana plants growing under elevated [CO2], highlighting the importance of root-to-shoot interactions in these responses A transcriptomic analysis enabled the identification of photoassimilate allocation and remobilization as fundamental process used by the plants to maintain the outstanding photosynthetic performance. more...

Expression data from leaflets of domesticated tomato and wild-related Solanum pennellii plants subjected to water stress

(Submitter supplied) Transcriptomics study which main goal is to elucidate the programme of gene expression triggered by water stress in leaflets of the drought-tolerant wild-related tomato Solanum pennellii (acc. PE47) compared with domesticated tomato (S. lycopersicum, cv. P73). In this study we used S. lycopersicum (Sl) (cv. P73) and S. pennellii (Sp) (acc. PE47) species displaying remarkable divergences regarding drought tolerance, to investigate the physiological and molecular responses in leaves of plants grown without stress (control) and after four days of water withholding (water stress, WS), when plant water loss was significant but leaves did not show visual dehydration symptoms yet. more...

Physiological, biochemical and genome-wide transcriptional analysis reveals that elevated CO2 mitigates the impact of combined heat wave and drought stress in Arabidopsis thaliana at multiple organizational levels

(Submitter supplied) Genome-wide transcriptional profiling of Arabidopsis thaliana to a combination of heatwave and drought under ambient and elevated CO2. Goal of this study was elucidate the transcriptional responses to a combination of heat wave and drought, and to see how these responses are modifed under future climate (high) CO2. Climate changes increasingly threaten plant growth and productivity. Such changes are complex and involve multiple environmental factors, including rising CO2 levels and climate extreme events. more...
