AnalysisDescription
This analysis of transmission distortion in the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) was performed by Wynn K. Meyer. A detailed description of the methods and results may be found in: Meyer W.K., Arbeithuber B., Ober C., Ebner T., et al., 2012 Evaluating the Evidence for Transmission Distortion in Human Pedigrees. Genetics 191: 215-232. This analysis contained 4,395 individuals in 2,362 trios and was based on all maternal transmissions. Genotyping was conducted by FHS using the GeneChip Human Mapping 500K Array Set (Affymetrix).
The study of low frequency and potentially functional variants may refine and expand our understanding of the genetic determinants of circulating metabolite levels. To that end, we analyzed the association between 217 plasma metabolites and exome variants captured on the Illumina HumanExome Beadchip in 2,076 participants in the Framingham Heart Study (FHS). The Framingham Heart Study (FHS) Offspring cohort is a prospective, observational, community-based cohort. The participants are primarily Caucasian. These children of the initial FHS participants and their spouses were recruited in 1971 and have been followed with serial examinations. A total of 2,076 Offspring participants who attended the fifth examination (1991-1995) and underwent metabolite profiling and exome array genotyping were included in this analysis.
