From 1996 to 2001, at least 25% of movies contained an appearance of a tobacco brand. However, aside from two upticks (each in 2005 and 2008), appearances of tobacco brands in movies generally declined after 2001. Such appearances peaked in 1997 and bottomed out just 10 years later.
