Map 6.Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) per 1,000 Medicare beneficiaries among hospital service areas in the South Atlantic region (2008-10)

PCI is performed frequently enough to support the reporting of rates at the hospital service area level. Among HSAs in the South Atlantic region during 2008-10, the rate of PCI was lowest in Reston, Virginia, where there were 1.7 procedures performed per 1,000 Medicare beneficiaries. The rate was more than 10 times higher in the Clinton, North Carolina HSA, where 19.0 procedures per 1,000 occurred.
