Mechanism of action of mipomersen. Mipomersen is an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) that inhibits the synthesis of apolipoprotein B. It binds to the cognate mRNA forming a substrate for a nuclease, thus resulting in mRNA degradation and reduced production of apoB and apoB-containing lipoproteins
