Figure 14 is a metagraph depicting the effect of haloperidol versus olanzapine on general psychopathology. Eighteen studies (n=4,327) used a variety of scales to assess symptoms. Two trials (n=482) found no statistical difference between groups when using both the ABS (MD=0.80, 95 percent CI, −1.22, 2.83) and the ACES (MD=0.06, 95 percent IC, −0.40, 0.53); however statistical heterogeneity was significant for both (p=0.05, I2=74% and p=0.009, I2=85% respectively). Three studies used the CDS-S (n=344) and found no statistically significant difference between groups (MD=0.60, 95 percent CI, −0.08, 1.29); however statistical heterogeneity was substantial (p=0.02, I2=73%). Two studies (n=283) used the HAM-A, and found no significant difference between groups (MD=0.90, 95 percent CI, −0.43, 2.23). Three studies (n=209) used the HAM-D and the pooled results showed a significant difference in favor of olanzapine (MD=1.69, 95 percent CI, 1.41, 1.96). Ten trials (n=1,187) showed no difference between groups on the PANSS (MD=0.53, 95 percent CI, −1.20, 2.25); however statistical heterogeneity was substantial (p=0.03, I2=52%).
