The world-widely distributing swimming crab family, Portunidae Rafinesque, 1815, contains a number of edible crab species. As one of the most famous edible crab species among East Asian countries, Portunus trituberculatus is under continuous overexploitation in the Yellow Sea. This increases the impact of researches about P. trituberculatus biology which can possibly contribute to its conservation and aquaculture. Yet, its whole genome resources are limited so far. Here, we report an alternative De novo draft genome of P. trituberculatus. This might provide valuable genomic resources which can benefit further researches about phylogenomic study of crustacean species, evolution of various crustacean bauplans, and developmental mechanisms.
