Description

Wood-rotting basidiomycete white-rot fungi are predominantly responsible for mineralization of the recalcitrant aromatic lignin polymer in nature. Among them, species from the genus Trametes are known as efficient lignin degraders. Trametes pubescens is a hardwood degrading saprobe, which is commonly found in Europe and in Northern America, and can produce a diverse set of lignin-modifying enzymes.
