Description

Rattus ranjiniae is a medium-sized field rat, also known as Kerala rat and is endemic to Kerala. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry lowland, grassland, swamps and rice fields. Illumina next generation sequencing platform was used to explore the total bacterial community associated with the intestine of Rattus ranjiniae and to analyze the functional diversity of the microbiota.
