growth protocolPlants were irrigated with a nitrate- and sulfur-rich nutrient solution for 3 weeks. Then half of the plants were subjected to S-deficiency. At flowering of the second flowering node, irrigation was stopped for half of the plants until soil water content reached 50% of the maximum water-holding capacity of the substrate. Once this target value was reached it was kept to 50% for 9 days. Seeds from the second node were collected at the end of this period.
