The meadow vole (Microtus pennsylvanicus) is a North American vole found in eastern Canada and the United States. Its range extends farther south along the Atlantic coast (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a male individual found in Ithaca, New York, was procured by Lindsay Sailer and David Ramirez, and coordinated by Lauren O'Connell and Jessica Nowicki to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Oliver Fedrigo, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
