Clostridium aceticum is a Gram-positive, endospore-forming bacterium, able to grow autotrophically on a CO2 + H2 gas mixture as well as heterotrophically on sugars, organic acids, and alcohols. This organism is able to convert H2 and CO2 to acetic acid via the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway.
