Bacillus cereus AH187. This strain was isolated from the vomit of a person having eaten cooked rice by the Public Health Laboratory Service (PHLS), London, UK. The isolate was associated with an emetic outbreak in 1972. The strain is positive for cereulide (emetic toxin) formation, is negative for the HBL hemolytic enterotoxin and cytotoxin K, but carries the non-hemolytic NHE enterotoxin. The strain has been extensively characterized as part of a study recently published by Ehling-Schulz et al. (2005 Microbiology 151, 183-197), in which this isolate was characterized as sequence type 26 using the MLSTDB scheme that is commonly used to type the B. cereus group.
Sequence was obtained from three libraries - a fosmid library (33-39 kb; 31,496 reads), a medium insert library (10-12 kb; 24,786 reads), and a small insert library (3-5 kb; 12,286 reads). Less...
