The aim of this study was to determine the specific microbial composition of the inflamed mucosa in the stomach and duodenum. We hypothesized that if there is a pathogen like Helicobacter pylori, it will induce mucosal inflammation by infiltrating neutrophils and mononuclear cells. Furthermore, if there is a species that plays a protective role against inflammation, it might underrepresent in inflamed mucosa.
