Understanding the molecular basis of phenotypic variations in chickens is essential to elucidate how different breeds of these animals exhibit distinct characteristics, and it has important implications for avian genetic breeding programs. This study aimed to identify differences in gene expression and biological processes (BPs) between Brazilian broiler chicken (TT) and laying hen (CC) breeds, during early development (from 2.5 to 3.5 days), establishing the global transcriptional profile of the embryonic tissues that generate the wing and breast regions of the chicken. The TT and CC strains were selected at the National Center for Swine and Poultry Research of Embrapa.

Probiotic-enriched oily suspension in modulating skin microbiome and treating seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a skin condition affecting 2-5% of the global population, with skin microbiome imbalances playing a role in its onset. This research investigated the effects of EUTOPLAC, an oily suspension with Lactobacillus crispatus P17631 and Lacticaseibacillus paracasei I1688, on SD symptoms and the skin's microbial balance. 25 patients underwent a week-long EUTOPLAC treatment. Assessments taken at the baseline, after a week, and three weeks later showed symptom relief and a marked decline in the Malassezia genus. Additionally, a decrease in Staphylococcus and a rise in Lactobacillus and Lacticaseibacillus were observed. The study underscores EUTOPLAC's potential in SD treatment, both in symptom alleviation and microbiome modulation.
