More...Bacteroides vulgatus makes a highly prominent representative of the Bacteroides species of the distal gut of healthy humans and there exists a very thin line either as commensals or as pathogens. An obligate anaerobic rod shaped, Gram-stain-negative, non-spore-forming, non-motile bacterium, designated as NMBE-5 was isolated from faeces of healthy Indian gut. The dietary and cultural habits of Indians may have effect on the evolution of the genome of the strain and thus was studied in detail.
