More...Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a symbol of notorious bacteria that impacts health facilities, and nursing home in addition to community. It causes infection ranging from superficial skin infections to live threatening bacterima and deep seated infections. A very challenging pathogen for clinician due to acquisition of other drug resistance genes limiting the treatment options. Monitoring the distribution and in particular the resistome of MRSA is crucial for public health policy.
Currently, data from Saudi Arabia is
limited. We sequenced over 800 clinical isolates and share the
sequencing data for MRSA isolates. The aim is to exposed more
sequencing effort to public domain and allow more access to isolates,
building research database for infectious diseases and create a
platform to share data among scientists and clinicians. Supplied with
automated workflow for microbial genomics and bioinformatics, it does
not require a substantial experience to extract knowledge from
sequence data for non bioinformatician. The over all analyzed MRSA
genomes across regions in Saudi Arabia shows a high degree of mix and
dissemination. There are multiple sequence types across regions with disseminated clonal complexes.
