The Canada's Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre, in collaboration with Jim Kronstad at the University of British Columbia, sequenced the Cryptococcus gattii VGI molecular type WM276 (aka Cryptococcus neoformans var. gattii WM276, Cryptococcus bacillisporus WM276, or Cryptococcus neoformans WM276, serotype B) genome at approximately 6X coverage using whole genome shotgun (WGS) sequencing. They sequenced clones from 2-kb and 10-kb plasmid libraries, paired reads from a 40-kb fosmid library, and BAC ends from a BAC physical map. The sequence reads were assembled with Arachne and Phrap.
