More...In this study, the role of seismic energy on microbial communities in subsurface environments was evaluated in subsurface well waters in Yellowstone National Park. Energy released in swarms of earthquakes in 2021 and 2022 was associated with changes in the geochemical and microbial composition of aquifer fluids sampled from ~100 m depths from two spatially isolated boreholes hosted in rhyolitic bedrock in Yellowstone.
