More...Red Snapper (Lutjanus campechanus, Family Lutjanidae) is widely distributed in shallow to mesophotic depths of the western Atlantic Ocean. It supports both a large commercial and popular recreational fishery. We sequenced a chromosomal-level genome assembly based on PacBio long reads, Illumina short reads, and Hi-C data. The genome has a size of 1.1 Gb, with a scaffold N50 size of 4.4 Mb, organized onto 24 chromosomes. The red snapper genome will offer valuable information that enhances our understanding of fish populations, informs comparative genomic studies across fish species, and supports fishery management.
