Transcriptomic analysis of floral buds from CMS line ICPA 2043 and its maintainer male fertile line ICPB 2043 was carried out in order to identify transcripts that are involved in CMS. The De-Novo assembly of these high-quality reads using trinity transcriptome assembler has generated a total of 47,704 transcripts. GO analysis of the transcripts were analysed resulting in the annotation of unigenes for the three domains; 9,273 unigenes for biological processes (BP) , 8,536 unigenes for molecular functions (MF) and 17,067 unigenes for cellular component (CC). GO enrichment analysis of DEGs revealed that under biological process category, 333 upregulated DEGs identified of which most significant are regulation of pollen tube growth(GO:0080092), phospholipid transport(GO:0015914), Pollen tube growth (GO:0009860) which ultimately involved in regulation of pollen tube growth biological process (GO:0080092). Among molecular function category 91 DEGs were upregulated and most significant ones include Phosphatidylinositol (GO:0008526), ribokinase activity (GO:0004747), Acyl carrier protein (GO:0016297), pectate lyase activity (GO:0030570) and Acyl carrier activity (GO:0000036). In cellular component category 107 DEGs were upregulated and the most significant ones are pollen tube (GO:0090406), membrane (GO:0016020), cytoskeleton(GO:0005856), anchored component of membrane (GO:0031225), pollen tube tip (GO:0090404),plasma membrane (GO:0005886),cytoplasmic side of endosome membrane (GO:0010009),apical plasma membrane (GO:0016324), endomembrane system (GO:0012505), clathrin-coated vesicle (GO:0030136), cell pole (GO:0060187). The mapped unigenes represented metabolic pathways of majorbiomolecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, nucleotides, amino acids, glycans, cofactors, vitamins, terpenoids, polyketides, etc.
