Genome Information for Bacillus licheniformis
Metagenomic Nanopore Sequencing for identifying the antimicrobial metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters of Bacillus licheniformis isolate CCASU-B18.
More...Metagenomic Nanopore Sequencing for identifying the antimicrobial metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters of Bacillus licheniformis isolate CCASU-B18. In this study, whole metagenome analysis of the soil sample(s) was performed using MinION (Oxford Nanopore Technologies). The antimicrobial metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters were extracted, identified, and annotated using the AntiSMASH software version 2. Results revealed that the biosynthetic gene clusters of lichenicidin VK21 A1/lichenicidin VK21 A2, bacillibactin/bacillibactin E/bacillibactin F, fengycin, butirosin A/butirosin B, lichenysin and laterocidine were conserved in the genome of Bacillus licheniformis isolate CCASU-B18. This strain exhibited antimicrobial activities against several multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as MDR Candida albicans. This is the first report for identifying the fengycin, butirosin A/butirosin B, lichenysin and laterocidine biosynthetic gene clusters in the endophytic Bacillus licheniformis isolate CCASU-B18
