GDE5/Gpcpd1 hydrolyzes Glycerophosphocholine (GPC) into choline and glycerol 3-phosphate.
More...GDE5/Gpcpd1 hydrolyzes Glycerophosphocholine (GPC) into choline and glycerol 3-phosphate. Skeletal muscle-specific GDE5 deletion showed reduced passive force and improved fatigue resistance in electrically stimulated gastrocnemius muscles. Metabolome analysis of GDE5-deficient muscles showed an altered profile, especially for glycolytic metabolites. Lipidome analysis of GDE5-deficient muscles also showed reduced levels of PC with highly polyunsaturated fatty acids such as DHA. A similar lipidome profile was observed in the skeletal muscles of denervated and Duchenne muscular dystrophy mouse models.
