More...Citrus Huanglongbing (HLB), triggered by the phloem-inhibiting bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), stands as the most devastating citrus disease, posing a significant threat to citrus production worldwide. Despite the susceptibility of commercially cultivated citrus cultivars to CLas infection, certain citrus varieties exhibit HLB-tolerant attributes. This observation suggests a potential avenue for identifying intrinsic defense regulators that could help mitigate HLB. The present study undertakes a comparison of the response to CLas infection between HLB-tolerant lemon (Citrus limon L.) and HLB-susceptible shatangju mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco cv. Shatangju).
