Streptomyces roseoviolaceus = Streptomyces purpurascens?
Based on the results of Labeda & Lyons (1991), the JCM and ATTC culture collections have transferred strains of S. roseoviolaceus to S. purpurascens. However, there has been no formal proposal to synonymize these two species.
