P. knowlesi strains
There are currently five strains of P. knowlesi maintainedand archived (cryo preserved) at the CDC. These strains are:1. Malayan H (sometimes designated simply as 'H')2. Nuri3. Philippine4. Hackeri5. MalaysianAll strains listed above are bonafide separate isolations that havebeen maintained by primate (mostly rhesus monkey) passage and thus arevalid and designated as strains and not isolates. There is anotherstrain designation in the literature and in GenBank submissionsrefered to as 'W1' which is likelyto be also the malayan H strain.Information from John W.
