Haemophilus aegyptius = Haemophilus influenzae
Haemophilus aegyptius and Haeomphilus influenzae are conspecific on the basis of DNA/DNA hybridization data (Casin et al. 1986). However, there has been no formal proposal under the rules of the Bacteriological Code to designate H. aegyptius as a junior heterotypic synonym of H. influenzae. Consequently, Haemophilus aegyptius remains the only validly published name for its type strain (ATCC 11116).
