Adenovirus E3 region protein CR1; Early region 3 (E3) of human adenoviruses (Ads) codes for proteins that appear to control viral interactions with the host. This region called CR1 (conserved region 1) is found three times in Adenovirus type 19 (a subgroup D virus) 49 Kd protein in the E3 region. CR1 is also found in the 20.1 Kd protein of subgroup B adenoviruses. The function of this 80 amino acid region is unknown. This region is probably a divergent immunoglobulin domain (A. Bateman pers. observation).
