The coding region has been updated to extend the N-terminus to one that is more supported by the available protein, conservation and publication data. The updated CCDS representation uses a non-AUG (AUA) start codon. The human AUA start codon is conserved as AUG in most other mammals, and the use of this start codon results in a longer protein with an N-terminal signal peptide, consistent with experimental evidence showing that it is secreted (PMID:22237023). |
