The coding region has been updated to represent an alternative splice pattern that is more supported by the available transcript and protein data. The update results in an extended protein N-terminus and in the presence of an additional internal segment. A downstream AUG translation start codon is selected for the update based on better conservation support, and on a higher probability of an N-terminal signal peptide being present in the resulting protein. Data in PMID:16357211 suggest that the protein is secreted. The use of an alternative upstream AUG start codon would result in a protein that is 18 aa longer at the N-terminus. Translation from the annotated downstream start codon is likely to occur via leaky scanning. |
