This is a de novo transcriptome of the migratory locust. We carried out de novo assembly of 20 Gb Illumina reads, derived from 12 cDNA libraries, representing all life stages and both the solitary and gregarious phase of the locust, generated 72,977 transcripts and identified 11,490 locust protein-coding genes.
