alpha-amylase family glycosyl hydrolase

Alpha amylase is classified as family 13 of the glycosyl hydrolases. The structure is an 8 stranded alpha/beta barrel containing the active site, interrupted by a ~70 a.a. calcium-binding domain protruding between beta strand 3 and alpha helix 3, and a carboxyl-terminal Greek key beta-barrel domain. malto-oligosyltrehalose trehalohydrolase

malto-oligosyltrehalose trehalohydrolase catalyzes the hydrolysis of (1->4)-alpha-D-glucosidic linkage in 4-alpha-D-((1->4)-alpha-D-glucanosyl)(n) trehalose to yield trehalose and (1->4)-alpha-D-glucan

malto-oligosyltrehalose trehalohydrolase

Members of this family are the trehalose biosynthetic enzyme malto-oligosyltrehalose trehalohydrolase, formally known as 4-alpha-D-{(1->4)-alpha-D-glucano}trehalose trehalohydrolase (EC 3.2.1.141). It is the TreZ protein of the TreYZ pathway for trehalose biosynthesis, and alternative to the OtsAB system.
