    Summary
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the family of adenosine receptors, which are G-protein-coupled receptors involved in a variety of intracellular signaling pathways and physiological functions. Studies of orthologous proteins suggest that the receptor encoded by this gene mediates a sustained cardioprotective function during cardiac ischemia, it is involved in the inhibition of neutrophil degranulation in neutrophil-mediated tissue injury, it may have neuroprotective and neurodegenerative effects, and it may also mediate cell proliferation and cell death. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. This gene shares its 5' terminal exon with some transcripts from overlapping GeneID:104564307, which encodes a transmembrane and immunoglobulin domain-containing protein. RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
