    Summary
This encoded protein is thought to be a secreted protein belonging to the disintegrin metalloproteinase family. Its expression is upregulated during dendritic cells maturation. This protein may play an important role in dendritic cell function and their interactions with germinal center T cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.

      Description
Transcript Variant: This variant (2) includes an alternate exon compared to variant 1. Translation may initiate at an internal AUG site (compared to variant 1) due to leaky scanning as both AUG sites are associated with a weak Kozak signal. It is possible that this transcript is not protein-coding as initiation from the AUG site in exon 1 would render the transcript a candidate for nonsense-mediated decay. The same protein isoform is predicted for transcript variants 2 and 3.
